Hi, I hope I'm OK posting this here, since it's really a question about hardware and not Ubuntu.
I'm traveling in Vietnam, and my laptop has developed a serious graphics problem. Basically, anything involving hi-res graphics freezes the computer, but I can still boot in text-only mode and everything works fine.
So it would seem to be the graphics card, right?
hi,
I would like to know whether fedora can run on or support this motherboard.
GA-P55-UD4P with intel p55 chipset.

I want to get a new laptop with a decent graphics card. I don't care that nVidia's drivers are closed source as long as they're good. I've heard that ATI drivers are buggier and I was wondering which card would be best. I have options like GT 240M, GT 320M, Radeon HD 4670. In theory I think 4670 is fastest, but if it is going to cause computer bugs it's not what I want. So my question is...
Hey , I have ubuntu installed on my iMac model 8,1 and it randomly goes to sleep, sometimes when it gets out of sleep mode the screen goes light blue but you can still see the desktop apps and everything and it doesn't go back to normal untill I restart my computer. So my question is, is this because my graphics card isn't supperted.
I have a chronic problem with my screen resolution and I fear it is because of my ancient graphics card but just in case anyone knows how to fix it, here it is:I have an Acer X183H monitor.http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications
;CatId=170The problem is that it defaults to 832X624. This is my ancient graphics card - ATI Technologies Inc.

Hi all,
Until yesterday I had a very happy computer running on Ubuntu 10.10. My problems started when I upgraded to 11.04 Natty from a CD. Natty would crash after a few lines of the installation screen. I removed one by one the hardware components until I found the culprit: the graphics card (ATI Technologies Inc RV515 [Radeon X1300] sitting on a PCI express slot).
My laptop has both an onboard Intel graphics card and a nVidia GeForce with Cuda and Optimus. I installed Bumblebee and can now run applications on the nVidia card by typing optirun [application name] in terminal.
My laptop uses a hybrid graphics hardware.
Using the vgaswitcheroo I am able to power off either card and switch between them correctly.
The issue is that the system wakes up/resumes from suspend correctly only when using the discrete graphics, or atleast the discrete graphics must be powered on even if the display is connected to the onboard intel card.
Has anyone faced this issues?
