HeyI tried today to install ati drivers to my fresh crunchbang install.Drivers install with success and linux boot up with no fail, but there is no fglrx driver working at all.I tried Ati drivers v 12.11 and v.11.10.My graphic card is HD545vAlso it won't me to install fglrx-driver from synaptic because of need xorg-video-abi-6.0I have no idea what how to fix it, maybe any1 able to help
My graphic card is an ATI HD Radeon 5430 series
After a fresh 12.10 install the driver in use is
X.org X server - AMD/ATI display driver wrapper from xserver-xorg-video-ati (open source ,tested)
Is it safe for me to install one of the fglrx proprietary drivers as I am reading of all kinds of problems with fglrx in 12.10, though most of what I have read seem to involve older cards than mine
Hi there! The ati graphics-card i have installet in my laptop is HD 5470.
I have installed the drivers both from the repositories AND from System Settings -> Additional Drivers -> ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver. I can locate the Catalyst Control Center, but i cannot open it.
I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04.2 and when I went to install the proprietary AMD/ATI drivers, I was given three choices:
ATI FGLRX -post release update
ATI FGLRX -experimental beta
Experimental AMD binary Xorg driver and kernel module
I installed first the post release update, but when I went to additional drivers it stated the driver is activated but not currently in use.
I have the ATI (AMD) HD7870 graphic card and I had just installed Ubuntu. With the Open Source drivers the desktop works fine; however, since I have a newer card, I'd like the proprietary drivers installed.
However, whenever I install it either from Additional Drivers, or from the AMD's website, I am able to log in, but then compiz immediately crashes and all I see is my desktop background.
I have a question on ATI Drivers. From what I understand there is 2 ways of installing it. One is to go to Hardware drivers that's under System->Administration and activate Restricted ATI driver. Second way is to go to amd.com and download latest driver and then install it.
i been trying to set up my vizio hd tv as a monitor for my pc trough hdmi,
i get video not as good as it is on windows 7 but ok i can deal with that is not that bad.
my problem is that i get no audio, the sound stays in my laptop.
this is a list of things i done to try to fix this issue:
ran additional drivers app.
Hey everyone,
I just got Steam, and downloaded a game. It took a while, then told me I need the latest OpenGL software for my driver. So, I went to amd.com, found my driver( for the Radeon HD 6570 ) and, not to mention I couldn't do a non-force install, whenever it finished installing, and I rebooted, Unity was gone.
I have installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my lenovo laptop and found a "chip" image on the top of the screen. It showed me to install 3 drivers
ATI/AMD Proprietary FGLRX graphics drivers (post-release updates)
Broadcom STA wireless drivers
ATI/AMD Proprietary FGLRX graphics drivers
When I installed 1st one, it showed me some error so, I installed 2nd one it was successful.
