Hello there, I am new to the forums and kind of new to the world of Ubuntu. I installed it on my last laptop, but never got around to playing with it. Well that laptop died with a gaint foot.
So, I bought a Asus K53e! As soon as I turned it on, there was no OS. It only costs 200 dollars. Can't complain.
So, i placed Ubuntu 12.10 on here.
My Asus 1201n won't suspend properly (screen goes dark but power button remains solid instead of blinking). I have to cycle power to get it come back on. I only found old solutions from previous Ubuntu versions which included updating to a more current kernel (now an older kernel). Is there anything I can try to fix this?
I'm using 12.04 on my Dell laptop. I got a "system problem detected" message with title dell-laptop-natty-dkms 1.5.1: dell-laptop-natty kernel module failed to build .
I'm not sure what this means. Wasn't Natty an older version? Do I need to worry about this?
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit os on my ASUS k53E. I cannot get bluetooth to work, I see that it says "No Bluetooth Adapter Found". I have an Atheros Bluetooth adapter, could you please help me how to get this fixed.
Thanks, Sunny.
As some of you might know, there is this bug that affects users of ASUS N51 series laptops. I'm currently suffering from it, which means I'm stuck with Ubuntu 10.04, since a more recent upgrade would update the kernel as well and leave the installation unusable.
I learnt that the hard way: I currently have an unusable Xubuntu 12.04 installed on my ASUS from the CD.
So, I was thinking.
Hello,
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 x64 with the latest updates on my ASUS K53E.
After a vanilla install of any ubuntu version, the K53E will not suspend properly. A script from here (http://thecodecentral.com/2011/01/18...ot-working-bug) fixes it right up.
However, for the past few days I've been getting more severe PM problems.
Picked this laptop up recently and installed Ubuntu LTS 12.04.1 and it works brilliant right out of the box. No issues, sound, wireless, webcam, bluetooth all works and works well. Laptop runs the same temp as it did in Windows but far more snappier. Added x-swat ppa for latest Intel driver.
KDE 4.7 has been released just few days ago with many new features, updates, and applications. Read announcements
Kubuntu Backports ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports has added KDE 4.7 for Ubuntu 11.04 Natty release.
I am a very very very new Ubuntu user and my first experience is with Natty Nawhal. Please tell me which one is more preferable for me.
My laptop is Dell Inspiron, Core i5 480M 2.67GHz, 2GB RAM, ATI 5650M 640GB Hard Drive.
So far, it goes well with 11.04. But I am a little shocked when Natty is the least popular.
Could you please advice me to use which version, everybody?
