http://ubuntuforums.org – Sorry if terminology is incorrect as Im used to a windows enviroment. My 5.1 surround sound was working well and great quality. Ubuntu 9.10 picked up the sound card right out of the box and so I had no issues with the install. A freind was having issues on his laptop with regards to sound so I did a search on here and found alsamixer might be of help to him. I installed it so I could navigate him around it. Anyway, his sound issue is fixed but now, my sound has gone haywire. I can hear my music playing or in game sounds but they are alway accompanied by what I can only describe as a high pitched screeching type of noise. Is there any way I can simply reinstall my sound drivers from my ubuntu disc or download them? From aplay-l I get **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: V8237 [VIA 8237], device 0: VIA 8237 [VIA 8237] Subdevices: 4/4 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 card 0: V8237 [VIA 8237], device 1: VIA 8237 [VIA 8237] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Thanks in advance.
