http://ubuntuforums.org – Hey guys, So I just installed 12.04 onto a new machine I put together and there is no sound through HDMI. Here's a bit of info on my setup: - Motherboard: Asus F2 A85X-M CSM (HD audio is enabled and output is HDMI in the BIOS) - CPU/APU: AMD A10-5800k - proprietary FGLRX drivers are installed (not the post-release ones, they failed to install for some reason) - the output to aplay -l:**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], d (Hardware)

Hi,

I've just set up Ubuntu running on what I hope to be a media computer. Video over HDMI works fine but audio does not. I'm using the onboard HDMI port on a Asus F1A75-M motherboard.

I am a first time user of Ubuntu. I recently installed it as a dualboot with Windows 7. I have Logitech USB speakers which work fine in Windows. However, I can't get any audio to play in Ubuntu.

I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 and after this I have no audio devices in the audio settings panel, but other parts of the system indicate that I do still have audio devices.

As far as I can tell, the drivers I need are installed. But still no sound.

Can you please help me solve this problem.

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 and the onboard sound works.

Just switched to CrunchBang  a few days ago. Loving it so far. After installing had two issues first was network which i figured out through the help of posts on here, and the second audio. I have gone through every post on here, and every other linux forum and page I could find through google.  Nothing has worked.

I'm trying to get HDMI audio output from a ION system but I'm running out of ideas.
