http://askubuntu.com – Samsung's Kies does not work with Linux or Ubuntu. I have Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit and I have been able to use Air Kies and my USB cable to connect to my Samsung Exhibit II 4G phone (not the same as the Samsung Exhibit S II or Exhibit II S phone! No S!!) and access all the information on it. However, I have not been able to request a firmware update. I have Gingerbread Android on it as is, out of the box. There seems to be information leading me to believe that Ice Cream Sandwich may be available to update my firmware to. Is this true, and how do I get this firmware update if I cannot use Samsung (HowTos)

Hello Friends, I have a Samsung I5500 Phone which i bought 3-4 years ago.

Now, this has a very old version of android. The phone works fine for basic calls and messaging. The issues are the battery does not last long on 3g. On Usage of every 15 minutes of 3g/2g. The phone hangs.

The only issue i have now is The VONAGE VOIP APP screws up my mic settings.

So pretty much I'm unable to update to the lates 4.0.4 that was just released (I'm currently on stock Taiwan firmware)

Hi i have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S3 from China and now wish to use the phone in Australia however i need to update the firmware to Australian to remove all Chinese etc.

Hi all.

Today I got a message telling me to update my firmware when I have wifi. So I did, downloaded it and the phone said it would reset it'self. It did, but then a message came up saying "Failed to update firmware. Try again using PC software )Kies) or visit a samsung service centre".

Any ideas how I can fix it?

Dear all, I am going back to Europe soon and I would like to know for sure if the exhibit 2 is going to be able to use the 3G network. There it is usually at 2100Mhz.
