I have installed the LAMP stack on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS using the tasksel command.
I checked - it works. But I cant find the location of the installaton,
I worked with WAMP - there you have a separate folder for Apache, for PHP and for mysql. Now I cant even find where to put the documents I create.
Which folder is used to contain my web projects?
Hi guys
I created a user from the terminal as shown in the picture. I see that the user's (anju) home directory was created but other directories such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads etc were not created! If I log in as anju using gui, it creates all the directories automatically and l can access them from the terminal as well.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 and am fairly new to it. My machine has 3 hard disks, 1 (ext4) 2.0 TB for Ubuntu and home directories, 1 (ext4) 1.5 TB to be used presently when I relocate all /home/ directories for the whole /home/ tree, and a third drive for backup (ext4, 1.0TB). The machine picked right up on the first disk, did the Ubuntu install, etc.
I'm installing Ubuntu using the alternate installation CD.
I would like to do full disk encryption, and I have two questions:
1. Is the following option the correct one for Full Disk Encryption with pre-boot authentication?
Code:
Partitioning method: Guided - use entire disk and set up encrypted LVM
2.
For Fedora 17, for example. Or any other. Is there any ready to be used in few clicks implementation of user home directory encryption? May be it is possible to install something from CentOS or similar distribution's repositories?
I do not want to encrypt whole disk or partitions. I want to encrypt only users home directories, and to have personal passwords for each of them.
Strange. You should have no problem. I use encfs. I guess I can just tell you how I have it setup and maybe that will allow you to see what is wrong with your setup.I have a directory ~/.Documents and the unencrypted pass-through directory is ~/Documents.
How does a RAID1 system determine which disk to use as the source and which disk to use as the destination when mirroring?
Assume for instance the following scenario: A RAID1 array is created with two disks A and B. A is replaced by disk C, which is added to the array. Files are beeing modified as time goes by.
i have installed ubuntu 11.10 on a machine running windows 7 starter. while installing i chose the 30 GB installation option which seemed like the largest installation offered. I am unable to use the other 250 odd GB on my hard drive. i am aware of disk utility available through the dashboard, but unsure how to use it.
I somehow moved my documents folder from the its original place (home) to my desktop, now on my desktop it has the documents icon and if I click on my documents library it opens up. But I don't want it their and when I move it back to home it looks just like a regular file folder and when I click on my documents library it says, Could not find "/home/jordiston/Desktop/Documents".
