It all works perfectly but there are 2 minor things im disliking and cannot change?

I followed the steps of these tutorial to install Ubuntu 12.10:

However, when i try to boot Ubuntu, this message appers:

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my preinstalled windows 7 Sony vaio s series laptop
following instructions here:

Everything went well and I am able to boot in to windows after complete installation of Ubuntu.
A few months I decided to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my PC alongside with my Windows 7 partition. In order to do that and avoid any mistake, I followed the steps of these tutorial:

Everything was going well until I decided to update to the 12.10 realese.
I tried to install in my laptop Ubuntu 12.04 so that I can dual-boot with Windows 7. I made some mistakes during this process and I didn't manage to install Ubuntu.
But my real problem now is that I'm afraid that I also destroyed the installation of Windows 7.

So I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTE 64-bit using the DVD. I followed LinuxBSDos guide for dual booting Windows 7 (first installed) and Ubuntu 12.04 (second install) on 2 Separate Hard drives.
I had Windows 7 Pro installed on /dev/sda1.
I am trying to install Ubuntu on my windows system. This is the first time I am installing any Linux version. So please pardon my naivety.
I searched for steps to install and I found this 2 page tutorial.

I followed the exact same steps.
Okay, so I followed this tutorial (http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2012/05/17...and-windows-7/) to dual-boot Ubuntu 12.04. Everything went great, however I've got this issue (details here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2063704) and I'm having the worst of luck finding a fix. So, I was just going to uninstall Ubuntu and reinstall it the same way.
