[ubuntu] ACPI functions not working on Toshiba Satellite

http://ubuntuforums.org – My laptop: Toshiba Satellite A215-S5825 In Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 the ACPI functions of my laptop worked fine but as of Ubuntu 9.04 my laptop's ACPI functions no longer work. I cannot alter the screen brightness, when I shutdown my laptop Ubuntu shuts down but then my computer never actually shuts off and I have to manually turn off the power of the laptop by pressing the power button, and I don't get any information about laptop battery life (when I go to "Power History" from the battery icon there is no device listed) among other things. Unfortunately, I can find very little information on ACPI functions in Ubuntu and can find no posts of similar problems among other Satellite users. I know the hardware is working correctly because Windows correctly does all of the aforementioned processes. If anyone knows how to attack this problem or can just point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Thanks! (Hardware)
