[ubuntu] 9.10 cannot recognize 2nd hard drive

http://ubuntuforums.org – Linux newbie/windows intermediate user can't find his second hard drive. I have a dual boot MS Win Vista / Ubuntu 9.10 system. First hard drive has 3 partitions: Win NTFS with Vista loaded on it Ubuntu 9.10 with ext4 A linux swap file. The 2nd hard drive is visible in windows but I can't find it in Places -> Computer. It has 3 partitions: NTFS, FAT32 and a linux partition that once had SUSE installed on it. SUSE is probably damaged and in any event I plan to wipe it. I tried running the following command in termi (Hardware)

currently running Xp Pro on first 30gb partition of hard drive with second 30gb partition formated as NTFS(My Documents). The hard drive has unused partition space of around 20gb. Also have second internal Hard Drive with 20gb FAT32 partition with 80gb unused partition space.

So, this is my first time installing Ubuntu on my hard drive, and I'm running into some problems.

Until a couple of hours ago, I had 4 partitions in my hard drive:

XP, Vista and 7 installations, plus a data partition.

I backep up the XP and Vista partitions which weren't of any use lately, and booted a Live-USB with Ubuntu 12.04.

On the "Install 12.04 LTS" partition manager thingy I deleted

I am new user of Ubuntu and have just installed server 12.04 for use in the school that I am running in Honduras. I have a second hard drive installed for use by the school and teachers. I want to use this second hard drive for file storage. When I type in lshw I can see the drive; logical name: /dev/sdb. The hard drive is formated to NTFS.

I had ubuntu 11.04 installed on another complete hard drive thats not even connected with my main hard drive. see I Just unhooked my Windows vista hard drive. and put another drive to run ubuntu.

Hello, I previously had 4 partitions on my computer, in order of on hard drive:

1. NTFS 2. FAT32 3. Linux swap 4. Ext4 (Ubuntu 11.04)

However, they weren't in that order in the partition table (ie. I think the Ext4 was /dev/sda1 maybe). Anyway, I used GParted to delete the FAT32 partition, so:

1. NTFS 2. Linux swap 3.

i just bought windows 7 (i know, you all hate me) and im trying to install it from my laptop running ubuntu 9.04 linux. when i get to the install stage i get the message "windows setup cannot find a location to install temporary files". i believe this is because my hard drive partition is not in NTFS format, therefore windows cannot attach its files to it.
