Default Ubuntu 10.10 install.
system info -> graphics -> driver says "unknown" and experiece : 'standard'
Hardware -> additional drivers : totally empty.
Windows are moving around sorta slow.
lspci | grep VGA
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series]
What's wrong. Why doesn't additional drivers show propertietary ATI driver?
I have a compaq nx7010 laptop, with ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV250 [Mobility FireGL 9000].
This page seems to say that my graphics chip is still supported. However, Settings -> Additional Drivers is empty, and has the title 'No proprietary drivers are in use on this system'.
Whenever I play a youtube video full-screen, the framerate is really low.
I updated my drivers using the additional drivers tab
my video is an AMD Radeon HD 7640G
after changing the driver now when when ever i restart / reboot
all i get is the command line prompt
how do i revert back to the original drivers supplied by ubuntu
the proprietary drivers don't seem to work

I am looking for the correct way to find and set up the ATI driver for my graphics card. I tend to be a bit of a gamer and tried with the canned Gallium .4 card driver, but the performance just was not there.
i been trying to set up my vizio hd tv as a monitor for my pc trough hdmi,
i get video not as good as it is on windows 7 but ok i can deal with that is not that bad.
my problem is that i get no audio, the sound stays in my laptop.
this is a list of things i done to try to fix this issue:
ran additional drivers app.
Hi All,
I've installed Fedora12 on my desktop and I have ATI Radeon 4650.
X is running using the default ATI drivers as I couldn't find suitable driver for the card.
Running lspci shows that my card model "04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV730 PRO [Radeon HD 4650]"
My problems:
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 and have been struggling for hours trying to figure out how to get nvidia to detect my monitor. When I first installed Ubuntu, I opened the 'Additional Drivers' and installed the version-current option and rebooted.
I followed the steps letter by letter in this post... Gnome 3.2 problems in the shell
However I have come to a problem that I don't know how to solve... It is saying that package build has failed and it could not process the .deb file. I would like to install this as it increases performance of Unity. I have an ATi Mobility HD4250 Graphics Card.
