Greetings
I've just built a fresh Ubuntu 12.04 AMD64 machine. Box is a HP XW8600 with dual nVidia Quadro 1500's gphx cards (not SLI but mobo has 2 x PCIx16 slots). There are 4 x DVI outputs for multiple monitors, 3 are polulated with identical HP 24" monitors on DVI cables.
So I'm very much an Ubuntu noob, in fact I just install Ubuntu to my P.C. and I started it up with both my screens plugged into my nVidia's dvi and vga ports and logged in, change the skin to classic gnome, because that's how it was when I last used Ubuntu (8.1), and both screens were working separately.
Hello,
I have an laptop HP Elitebook 8540p and i can't make ubuntu to work with 3 monitors(Laptop, Acer,LG).
I have Nvidia NVS 5100M video board.
When i'm trying to use twin view i've got the message : MetaMode 1 of Screen 0 has more than 2 active display devices.
I searched about this problem but i couldn't find anything to solve my problem.
Hi! I'm currently using an ATI HD 5770 and am running 3 screens with twinview. The only problem is the lagg and det jerky window dragging. So I just bought a new card, an GTX 560 1GB ram. With two DVI and one DP, just like the ATI.
I was actually hoping that the Nvidia driver was better than the ATI driver. Ive had that experience from before.
Well ever since I have used dual monitors with the NVIDIA X Server Settings program my xorg process has been crashing after a while, and its generally a pretty long while of like 6 hours afterwards. Before NVIDIA changed my xorg.conf file I only had xorg crash like twice in 2 months, I can't figure out what is going on.
I cannot save my "Configure Desktop" settings. I have 2 monitors and a Nvidia 8500. All was well under 11.1 but neither an upgrade or fresh install will save my settings.
Ok. I have been banging my head against the wall for over a week now trying to get 3 monitors to work.
I have:
1 - Nvidia 8600 GT 512MB PCIEx16
1 - Nvidia GT 240 1GB PCIEx16
They are not running in SLI (obviously). I have tried to use everything from tutorials to a few templates, all the way up to nvidia-settings, etc etc etc..

I have endlessly been playing around with the Nvidia X Server settings and changing my xorg.conf file to try and work for me and on most days its fine. In each instance I get it working for a while and then this morning the most bizarre thing happens. The moment I open any type of Wine program (which never use to be a problem) my Twin View setup disappears and am left with mirrored displays.
