I installed Ubuntu yesterday and its finally running right(I think.) I found a website for Linux users https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ListOfOpenSourcePrograms and im trying to download a antivirus.
In the article, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook4-1/Lucid , it says that sound works out-of-the-box, but when I booted up from a upgrade from 9.10, I can't hear any sound. I've already looked at the alsa config file, but nothing seems wrong. Any suggestions?
Hi I recently starteds using Ubuntu. I can't get my Aiptek 14000U tablet to work correctly. When I put my pen on the tablet the click doesn't work. So, I can move the cursor around the screen but I can't click anything.
I have a VIA pc3500g mainborad with C7 CPU. It has a VIA Chrome9 video chip , VIA CN896 North Bridge and VIA 8237A or VT8237S South Bridge.
I run Ubuntu and try to install the VIA propriatary driver.
Code:
$ cat /etc/issue.net && uname -r
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Creative X-Fi Platinum
After installing Ubuntu 9.10, there was no sound.
I followed the OSS documentation:

Hi all,
I am running 10.04 on a few machines here. What I would like to do is to purchase a few USB wireless dongles (preferbly a usb dongle, but wireless card is ok too if I can't get a dongle).
After running Ubuntu for months and liking it, I for the first time wanted to use headphones and was trying to get them to work so I ran the code in step 1 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure
-- the result was an improvement in performance, resolution, and audio.. a vast improvement.
Hi all
I am trying to install "lirc" into chroot. Installing lirc requires "answering 2 questions". I am on Ubuntu Desktop 12.04. (in Virtualbox)
I try this way:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ub...nstallLocalApp
but I had errors and then the server would hang on reboot. No big surprise, the guide says it is valid for 9.04.
I've been trying for SO long, scouring every bit of info that comes up, and still nothing seems to be working.
My external sound card/interface just WON'T work. :(
I followed these instructions: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/TASCAM_US-122
