[ubuntu] 409 Conflict

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 behind a proxy server (everything is set up to use this proxy server). I'm trying to upgrade my graphics card driver from Administration-->Hardware drivers. When I run jockey-gtk I get the following error: Code: Failed to fetch http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/f/fglrx-installer/fg... 409  Conflict Does anybody know what this error is and how it can be resolved? I have a server with ubuntu server 11.10 and my apt-get update don't work. I get this error:

I want to use the open source Radeon driver for Ubuntu, but currently I'm using fglrx.

So, I went ahead and purged fglrx using sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx* and when I rebooted and ran sudo lshw -c video, I still see driver=fglrx_pci. I've followed the instructions here.

I'm not sure why I can't completely purge fglrx, is anyone else experiencing this?

I am following these instructions to install the fglrx drivers. When I am running sudo sh amd-driver-12-6-x86_64.run it tells me fglrx is already installed; even though I ran the commands to remove it. So I added the --force option anyway and went through the installer; here is the output:

Another release, another fglrx tracking thread.

AMD have just released the official 12.10 drivers. While Quantal (and as such Raring) has working drivers in the repos (for HD5k+ cards) the AMD release is a little newer (fglrx 9.002 compared to 9.000).
