System - Acer Aspire-5332.
When I come to shut down my computer, many times it freezes on the "Ubuntu" screen instead of shutting down completely. Pressing any key will shut it down at this point, but it should be doing this automatically. It's irritating.
Does anyone know why this happens/ how to fix it?
Good afternoon!!!
I have the following problem,
i've installed karmic koala, everything is ok! Excpet that when i shut down my pc, system "shuts down" but laptop still is on power! I have to shut it down by pressing power button for 3-4 seconds.
Any ideas?
I have a Dell inspiron 2500 PIII with Xubuntu 9.04
It's working well enough but when I try to shut it down it goes through the motions and stops at system is halted. then it will shut off with a touch to the power button. Where would I start looking to try and get it to shut all the way off without me pressing the power button?
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 for last one month without any problem. It was upgraded from Ubuntu 10.10. Recently I needed to replace my hard disk. After replacement I installed Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 on the system. For some days it went ok, but now shutting down from Ubuntu is causing problems.
I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my Acer Aspire 5742G recently but I can't neither put it to hibernation nor suspend it. If I hibernate it then when I press the power to wake it up, it doesn't show anything on the display and I have to force power it down (by pressing the power for a few seconds), and press the power again.
Hello,
I bought a new Toshiba Satellite C870-15J with Windows 7 installed.
Made a dual boot with Xubuntu 12.04.
When I shut down Xubuntu, the system seems to turn itself completely off, but after some seconds I hear a click, and the system reboots itself.
The same when I shut down via the terminal with "sudo shutdown -h now".
In the power manager I changed the value for the onn-off butto
I am using an Acer Laptop, not the latest model but not the oldest either, and I run it almost exclusively on external power.
Every now and then it would shut down for no reason at all and I finally decided that possibly the battery was faulty so I removed it.
Due to some reasons, sudden power outages are common at my place so my current operating system "Windows" shut down improperly most of the time but this had no bad affects till now. So i would like to know if i use Ubuntu, will abnormal shut down's affect it's system files or any other performance issue? If so then please explain :)
Your help will be very much appreciated.
hey all
I've been on Ubuntu for a couple months now, and love it. I have a few minor issues though.
-when told to "shut down" ubuntu cannot turn my computer off. Randomly it will do a full power down, but more often then not it will shut down the os and halt at a blank screen, and I have to hold the power button down to fully power down.
