Hi All,
I installed ubuntu alongside with windows 7 but I am not getting the option for ubuntu in the windows boot loader.
I have a 320 gb hard disk:
C: drive - 40 gb windows has been installed on this
D and E drives - 250 gb used for data
F: drive - 15 gb firstly formatted as NTFS but used gparted to change the filesyste. This is the partition I used to install ubuntu.
Since many programs that I need only work on XP, I need to install Windows XP on my 2 laptops but I can't use an optical drive, which makes using a USB the only option.
If it helps, I can tell you that I used to have Vista and Windows 7 on my 2 laptops but I clean installed Ubuntu 12.04 on one, and Lubuntu on the other.
I recently converted my home media server from Windows Server 2008 to Ubuntu 11.10. Right now, there is a single WD20EARS 2 TB hard drive formatted as NTFS that's about to run out of space.
I'd like to purchase a few extra drives (the case can hold an additional two).
Here's the background:
I have two hard drives, one (SATA) with XP on it and another (EIDE) with an NTFS partition and Ubuntu on an ext2 (I think, or ext3, I can never remember which one's right). I also have an external hard drive (EIDE) that's completely NTFS.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. My hard drives usually comes as: sda, with 'sudo blkid' and if I plug-in any USB drive, they comes as: sdb, sdc etc; after sda. That's fine!!!
But problem arises after I restart my laptop with connecting those USB drives. They alter and comes first and hard drive goes to the end, like: 'sudo blkid' shows, sda, sdb for USB drives and sdc for hard drives.
Ok so I have 3 hard drives in my machine, 1 that has Ubuntu 12.04 installed on it, one with Windows 7 and the last one has Unallocated space. The Windows 7 drive is almost full and I was wondering how can I extend my Win7 drive using Ubuntu? So that I have 2 Drives using Windows 7 and 1 drive using Ubuntu.
Hey I am trying to put Windows 7 on my linux machine running Ubuntu 11.04. I formatted my spare drive (1TB) to NTFS with two partitions of 500 GB each. When I ran the Installation CD and went to select a drive to install it to. I received an error message saying that the setup could not detect any NTFS formatted drives. Not sure why this is because there is one.
Hello...
I had ubuntu 11.04 installed on another complete hard drive thats not even connected with my main hard drive. see I Just unhooked my Windows vista hard drive. and put another drive to run ubuntu.
I'm hoping this is an easy yes answer, but I wanted to make sure before I start.
I currently have a computer built with two internal hard drives, it's running ubuntu 11.10.
