I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my Laptop (Intel Dual Core/Nvidia Graphics).
I am able to boot from cd and I reach the purple screen (here)
But after this screen there is a black screen with a blinking cursor. I have seen all the similar topics but haven't solved it yet.
Hello everyone,
I have been trying for the last 3 days to get ubuntu to work on my notebook, a macbook pro 9,2 (with ssd if that makes any difference). I have no problem with the installation as I made it install from USB stick or directly from the Live CD, both 12.04 and 13.04.
Hi forums. First post, sorry it had to start out with a problem.
Hello all,
I downloaded Ubuntu 12.04.1 64-bit and used unetbootin to try to make a bootable usb.
So, I plug it in, turn my computer on, select to boot from usb, and then I get a black screen with the following white text on it:
Quote:
BusyBox v1.18.5 (Ubuntu 1:1.18.5-1ubuntu5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
(initramfs)
I am attempting an install of Ubuntu 12,10 on a non retina MacBook Pro 9,1. This is an Ubuntu only install without the use of refit or refind.
The install disc boots and the installation proceeds without any problems. Once complete, I bless the boot partition under OSX from the install media and reboot.
Upon rebooting, I get dumped to a black screen with flashing cursor.
I'm dealing with Ubuntu since about 5 years and installed it on several laptops. Now I'm stuck when trying to install Ubuntu 12.04.1 on a brand new Macbook Pro 13" Retina (10,2). I sucessfully can start Ubuntu from an USB stick, the Ubuntu desktop is visible, a mouse cursor is visible. But there is no respond to keyboard or touchpad input.
I have 2 computers, Windows 7 Intel.
On one computer Ubuntu boot-able DVD (AMD 64) works properly. But on other computer the same DVD boots OK but when clicked on "Install Ubuntu" a blank screen with blinking cursor(_) appears and it continues just blinking forever.
What problem can be there in computer 2?
Can it be DVD reader's problem?

Running into an issue trying to boot Ubuntu on my new PC. Formatted my USB stick (8GB) using pendrivelinux to make the iso image bootable. Power on computer, get to Asus' awesome new BIOS screen, everything looks good so far.
Is there any way to make a bootable ubuntu usb stick from an ubuntu iso image in OSX?
I have a Macbookpro and I'm planning to create a multiple boot.
