I installed gnome-shell - for who knows what reason - on Natty, from gnome3 launchpad PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
sudo apt-get install gnome-session
After I realized I made mistake:
ppa-purge ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo apt-get update
and reverted system to previous state.
Gnome 3 has just released and the gnome3-team ppa only provides packages for Ubuntu 11.04 Natty.
There are a lot of options under Gnome 3.6's Keyboard Layout tool. 1. Load Keyboard Layout (Super, then type 'Keyboard Layout' ENTER). (Super + Type 'Keyboard Layout' ENTER).2. Click on the Layouts tab.3. Click the Options button (lower right)4.

I`ve added two keyboard layout because of i use english as second language
Whenever i Logout (ubuntu 12.04 32bit) then Login, Keyboard layout get disappeared and it`s not possible to switch between languages i`ve added before
I test that on my brother`s laptop (ubuntu 12.04 64bit) and everything was ok
Does anybody know what to do to get rid of this bad issue
I just upgraded from 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS on my server (DELL Intel XEON). By SSH login from my mac (OS X Lion) everything is fine (no issues with command lines) but when I open a window through X11, the keyboard layout is now completely messed up.
I proceeded like described in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=188761&highlight=layout&page=4
But when I tried to add this new keyboard layout
"Avestan"
or any other like
"Indisch" or "Tamil"
I get this error messages
Fehler beim Aktivieren der XKB-Konfiguration.
Dies kann verschiedene Gründe haben.

i have installed 13.04 with Gnome-fallback and gone to keyboard to System-Settings/keyboard/layout settings and picked French and Russian to add to my English default but the icon does not appear on icon-bar so i cannot switch between layouts
Any ideas to make icon appear [that is the priority here] and/or an easy way to switch from commandline maybe?
I seem to be running into an issue when I suspend my laptop. upon suspend my keyboard layout seems to think the right side of my keyboard is like a 10 key. I have had to disable screen lock on resume because I am unable to type my username or password, even switching to a virtual terminal the messed up keyboard layout persists.
