I am trying to log into machine A from machine B via SSH. Both machines are running Ubuntu, and both machines are on the same LAN.
I'm planning to move a hard drive from one server machine to another. The hard drive is an IDE drive. The motherboards are different, as are the memory and such. In this instance, graphics isn't a problem because this is just Ubuntu Server.
Are there any precautions I should take, or steps I can do beforehand, in order to make this go as smoothly as possible?
I purchased a used machine, the seller had preloaded Windows XP pro on the computer, well you know the story, I got it home, plugged it into the internet and M$ started auto updating to SP 3 and I had no way to block it like I did with an XP blocking script as I did in the past with another Windows box.
How do I clone one machine to another?
I am about to build one new PC. That new one will be using old hardware.
I do not want to install from the installation disk since the machine I am using now, I have good configurations.
Would cloning be a better solution?

I would like to install Ubuntu studio 12
What machine configurations are recommended? As my current machine is not able to run Ubuntu studio 12, I think not all window pc machine are compatible with Ubuntu.
Actually, I want to use this machine to do some rendering jobs. Could I have some hardware recommendations please?
Thank you.

Hi guys,
I have a 2001 windows machine & I thought it might be interesting to turn it into a web server. However, it doesn't seeem to be working. The CD/DVD player is bust so I am trying to install via a USB key. I have downloaded pendrivelux usb installer & the iso files for Ubuntu server 11.04 & 10.04.
