Hi!
I just updated Fed 16 this morning, and I noticed now that there is no longer a network icon in the top bar. If I go to System settings/Network I get 'the network service is not compatible with this version'
How do I get out of this one?? I can't connect to reinstall Network Manager.
How can I get the internet connections up and running manually? What is wrong with this version.
I'm running a Fedora 17 desktop system that I've decided to put an OEL 6 virtual machine on. I built the VM first with virtual network NAT the default but discovered that only the host could communicate with it. After reading the available documentation (which I probably should have done first) I found that I needed to use a bridged network on the host so the VM would be available on my LAN.
Hello,
I'm having trouble connecting to my dlink dns-321 nas drive. I had gotten it set up as a server and it was automounting at one point. I've moved and not tried accessing the drive for a few months and cannot connect to it now. It can still be accessed from my wife's mac laptop, so I know it is working.
I have Ubuntu 9.10 running on a Dell E6400. Nearly every time when I start it up, wireless networking doesn't work. If I click on the networking icon, Wired Networking shows "Disabled" (which is normal) and Wireless Networking shows "Networking is disabled".
I installed a fresh Ubuntu system. Somehow - possibly through my own error - the backports repository got enabled. Then I did several upgrades.
I upgraded my EeePC from 11.04 to 11.10 and further to 12.04
I used the Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet.
Now at 12.04 I do not have a network anymore!
sudo start networking
=> networking stop/waiting
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

I want to know which version of Ubuntu is compatible with my machine.
My PC configuration is:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
RAM : 3 GB
System Type : 64-bit
I have currently installed Windows 7 in my machine. Now I want to install Ubuntu 64 bit as well.
I am very new to all this and thought I'd have a look at ubuntu with the hope of it running my server.
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 Server which went fine, I then installed Unity again this was all fine.
I can access the GUI fine but my one problem is Internet Connection.
It works fine, I can access the internet and everything but I can't view System Setting>Network as it says 'The system netw
Yesterday I did a "sudo apt-get upgrade" and all was fine. Today I booted up and all was still fine. I then rebooted and then NM-applet says networking is disabled and when I click the square to enable it (when right clicking on the NM-applet icon) nothing happens. Is there a terminal command for starting networking in Network Manager?Running unmodified CB Alpha2 on a eeepc 901
