Hello, I've go 5,2 Macbook & using both OSX & Ubuntu. That was a bitt difficult for me toı install Ubuntu first time. But at the end, I've managed to installed 10.04 - 10.10 & 11.04 without any problem. But When installing, i needed to use acpi=off command. If I don't use it my screen went black.
Anyway, after installed Ubuntu, I've realized my battery doesnt' show.

I have Ubuntu installed as VM on my laptop. My laptop has quad core with HT technology making it 8 cores.
Within Ubuntu VM I can only use max of 4 cores.
What should I do so I can access all 8?
Which Linux distribution would let me use all my cores? Which VM software should I use?
Any advices?
I have a Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop. I have replaced the battery and the charger. While the laptop will run on AC power it will not charge the battery and the battery is such like: http://www.scontobatteria.com/dell-studio-xps-16.html . It says plugged in not charging. If I restart the laptop I get an error screen that says the charger is not recognized. Is there a solution to this?
I installed ubuntu 12.04 LTS a few days ago.
Frisrt I had a problem whith the screen, I explain myself:
When I shifted between windows or I moved up and down through a website, the screen seemedd to have like stripes, and for two or three seconds or so it doesn't work.
The other day I succeed in fixing it, but only when I'm using the batery.
So I'm doing a fresh install of Ubuntu on my laptop right now. I also have a jumpdrive with Ubuntu installed on it with a persistent setup.
What I would like is to be able to plug the jumpdrive into my laptop and have the installs sync certain data. I don't want docs and such to sync of course, but I would like some software to sync with installs and updates, mostly security and recovery stuff.
Okay I have Ubuntu installed but am having one hell of a time trying to get it to recognize my Nvidia GeForce GT 525M graphis card. But my laptop also has intel 3000 graphics.
I am re-installing ubuntu and want to start fresh. I just want to use the intel 3000 for graphics, How can I do this?
I just registered to this forum to ask this question because I've looked everywhere else for the solution to this problem. Before I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on this laptop, it wouldn't recognize the DVD Drive or USB ports on Windows XP. Basically, it won't play any CD/ DVD, and won't recognize any USB device connected to it, nor charge some of them.
Today, I wish to give aMule a try. So I installed aMule from Ubuntu Software Center.
After it was installed, I click the download link. But nothing's happen.
So, I log-out and log-in. And repeat the process, but it still nothing is happen.
Quote:
When in Windows, everytime I click the download link, the aMule will always show up.
I guess Ubuntu will do that also.
