Ubuntu 12.04 kernel issues

view story

http://serverfault.com – I'm running Ubuntu Linux 12.04 and the current kernel installed is Linux 3.2.0-23-generic on x86_64This is a fresh install of 12.04 as my older server had hardware issues. The problem I see now the generic kernel causes 3x more CPU usage then my old server. I have two other machines running Ubuntu Linux 12.04 but with older kernels Linux 3.0.0-17-server on x86_64. I tried downgrading the kernel to what my other two machines are using but it will not allow me because of dependency issues. My question is how can I get a old kernel to work and or fix the CPU issue. Thank you (HowTos)
