Pen drives are not detecting by Ubuntu 8
Hi All,
I installed ubuntu alongside with windows 7 but I am not getting the option for ubuntu in the windows boot loader.
I have a 320 gb hard disk:
C: drive - 40 gb windows has been installed on this
D and E drives - 250 gb used for data
F: drive - 15 gb firstly formatted as NTFS but used gparted to change the filesyste. This is the partition I used to install ubuntu.
I installed Windows 8 and it created a 350MB partition and then the 550GB partition.
I have about 400GB left for Ubuntu.
But when i want to install using the wizard, I see a empty partition table.
I have disconnected all other drives, USB Sticks to make sure it was correct.
What do I do ?
If I install UEFI mode I screw up the previous installation every time.
The only solution se
I have downloaded the Ubuntu 12.10 i386 Desktop ISO both via HTTP & Torrent Download.
I have attempted the install via CD & Bootable USB (created using YUMI from Pendrive Linux), each using a different ISO (to rule out corruption).
I can boot from CD & USB and use the live Ubuntu, but each time I try to Install it, Ubiquity hangs at the "Preparing to Install Ubuntu" screen.
It doesn't
I'm an Ubuntu newbie and I'm using it for the first time. During the installation I chose install Ubuntu over Windows, thinking that this will keep the partitions and install Ubuntu on the partition where the Windows was installed (C:) and keep the other one (D:) with all the files on it. After I installed I couldn't find the D:\ partition.
Here is what my partition looked like yesterday morning:
[100 mb system partition] [499.9 gb partition for Windows 8]
I ran disk manager and reduced the Windows 8 partition.
I had installed ubuntu in Win OS under different partition (E:) and then formatted my windows (C:), now I am not able to see the ubuntu partition (E:) and not getting the option of ubuntu OS whn PC boots up.
Kindly assist me to recover my partition (E:) and give me the steps as in what is to be done before installing the ubuntu so that it can be recovered easily next time.
Thanks,
Amit
So I just formatted and re-installed Ubuntu on my computer (Satellite C655). For half a second everything worked fine but then fore some reason my mouse stopped working. I've installed Ubuntu on this computer before and never had this problem. Also everything works perfect on my Windows 7 partition.
Placed Ubuntu i386/32bit 12.04 LTS [DESKTOP] disc in the disc tray.
The disc loads fine.
Clicked install Ubuntu.
Without checking the download updates while installing or install
this third-party software.
Clicked continue.
Mouse cursor turns to spinning circle and remains a spinning circle while the screen freezes its place at "Preparing to install Ubuntu".
I tried not checking any of the bo
