Ubuntu 12.04 Freezes after trying to login Ubuntu3D mouse stuck on right side of screen

http://askubuntu.com – So I'm running 12.04 using WUBI and whenever I try and login using the normal Ubuntu option (as opposed to Ubuntu2D) my mouse jumps to the right edge of the screen and everything just freezes. This only happens after I install a few things like dropbox and updates (tried just doing the essential without the recommended still did it). I think it's possible it's a graphics related problem as I was having some trouble earlier with it. I'm using an ATI 6950 with dual monitors and using Catalyst control centre. Also if it matters at all, whenever I wanted to revert back some things, I've just copie (HowTos)

Recently I've had this issue where Ubuntu freezes before I can get to the login screen or even the boot animation. It started off with myself leaving the PC on overnight, steam downloading tf2. I come down the next morning to see that Linux needs me to login again. I do so, but it seems like steam is closed.

I installed 12.04 using WUBI on a working W7 64bit system.

both KB and mouse work perfect during the BIOS boot, and on the bootmgr, I can select Windows 7 or Ubuntu to load.

Once I select Ubuntu, the KB and mouse seem to loose their power (light on the mouse and Numlock leds go off) After couple of seconds, the screen gets blurry.

I've just installed Ubuntu 11.10 and everything seems fine, except the mouse clicks only work half the time. I often have to click things (whatever it is) several times before any response and it's driving me crazy. The mouse works fine in Windows XP.

So, I thought I'd give KDE/Kubuntu a go. And so far, I have to say I'm impressed. Some things I'm not so happy with, like the somewhat varied default icon theme, but other than that it's pretty awesome. Kdevelop is amazing too.

Anyway. Two problems (possbly related):

1. If I login to KDE through the regular session, things crawl so badly it's unusable.

I have an AMD Radeon HD 4850 graphics card, with the latest AMD Catalyst drivers installed.I would like to better understand how things work.

I am running openSuSE 11.3 on a Thinkpad T400 laptop (with Intel+ATI switchable graphics). I made a clean install of openSuSE 11.3 (earlier running 11.2), and updated to KDE 4.5.

Now my screen freezes frequently. I can move the mouse cursor all over the screen, but cannot start any application; the keyboard doesn't work too.

I installed OpenSuse 12.1 on my Dell 690 (X2 dual core Xeon 2.66GHZ, 8G RAM 667 FBDIMM quad channel, 500G at striping RAID (2X 250G SATA), nVidia Quadro FX 3400).

All installation was smooth, took less than 15 minutes. But when I'm trying to login, instead of showing me the desktop computer freezes (user/password screen in fine, just desktop seem to have issues).

All works fine until I move the mouse cursor on the monitor to either the bottom of the screen or to the right of the screen. It then disappears from the monitor and re-appears onto my laptop screen. There is no way I can then get control back onto the monitor screen.

Dear All, I have already made a post (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2065511) and got some excellent suggestions. However, the issues have become a bit scattered and not everybody will have the patience to read thoroughly among all the posts (no offense intended).
