Every time i attempt installing ubuntu on my VM it goes flawlessly until the initial start up of the OS, i cannot seem to fit the machine inside my screen resolution. i installed a pre-made VM for an open source project and the resolution was fine, everything was scaled and actually a full screen.
I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my Laptop (Intel Dual Core/Nvidia Graphics).
I am able to boot from cd and I reach the purple screen (here)
But after this screen there is a black screen with a blinking cursor. I have seen all the similar topics but haven't solved it yet.
Finished installing Ubuntu 10.10 in my XPS15, intel i5 4g ram, nvidia GT 420M graphics card,
problem is when i go to additional drivers, the driver listed (Nvidia accelerated graphics) when I install it and reboot it the computer starts on the terminal, no graphic interface.
I have Dell 7520 with AMD Raedon 7XXXM graphics card, thankfully, I got to make it work. But the problem now is screen resolution, as I have screen resolution of 1920 X 1080 for 15.6" laptop, which is way too much. In the Display Monitor settings, I cannot change it to whatever I want, only the resolution with 16:9 works perfectly.
I've had all sorts of problems with the new kernels on my system related to the graphics driver. I have a black screen on boot (which I can get around with a quick press of Fn+contrast keys during boot), but I also hear an annoying whining noise from the GPU with the default driver.
It's been a while since I've used Ubuntu, and back then I was running an old Gateway MX3215 with a piece of junk UniChrome card. This time I'm running an Intel GMA X3100, so I still don't have a great graphics card.
Hi: I am having the strangest problem...I just got a new Toshiba laptop with AMD A4 Vision Processor and AMD Radeon Graphics Card.
On Windows 7, the Screen Resolution is properly set to 900x1600
If i put in an ubuntu 12.04 cd or any other linux distro, it does not go to the proper screen resolution!
Everything looks way out of whack and the only choices offered in the settings are 1152x86
I have a new asus netbook eeepc 1015cx which has the following graphics card
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor D2xxx/N2xxx Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
In neither of the versions starting from 11.04 to 12.04 I couldn't able to get the proper screen resolution of 1024X600.
Can anybody help me how to get the proper screen resolution in ubuntu.
I'm newbie here.
I've searched many web for my problem.
I've tried several times to install Ubuntu.
I used Wubi, and the result is always black screen after go trough the Boot manager and choose ubuntu.
I also tried using disc image so i can boot from disc. It's not start to install.
