[ubuntu] 12.04 desktop 32 bit Installer not seeing partitions

http://ubuntuforums.org – I am doing a fresh install on my computer so I got a new hard drive and booted off the 32 bit installer cd. when i get to the 3rd screen it does not see any partitions. So i boot into the live disc and use gpartion to create the partitions manually but that still didn't work. Please see the screenshots below. Not sure what to do, this computer had an older version of ubuntu on it with a different hard drive. Please help :confused: (Hardware)

I had a very hard time to dual boot install Ubuntu 12.04 Apparently, Ubuntu has restriction of 4 partitions and I already had 4, so it just couldn't recognise my partitions. This was something I realised too late, but finally got to install Ubuntu.

Now, even though Windows 7 option is listed when I try to boot my laptop, it doesn't really let me boot and just loops back to begin.

Basically, I am trying to install Ubuntu on a previously Windows 7 laptop. I have a 320GB hard drive and will mostly only be using this computer for internet browsing and messing with the Linux OS.

So, this is my first time installing Ubuntu on my hard drive, and I'm running into some problems.

Until a couple of hours ago, I had 4 partitions in my hard drive:

XP, Vista and 7 installations, plus a data partition.

I backep up the XP and Vista partitions which weren't of any use lately, and booted a Live-USB with Ubuntu 12.04.

On the "Install 12.04 LTS" partition manager thingy I deleted

I'd like to fully install Ubuntu 12.10 onto a 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive, not create a live USB but to treat the flash drive as an external hard drive. I've read it's possible and I know my computer can boot from it. However, it doesn't work when I try. I've booted a Live USB from another flash drive and installed Ubuntu onto the 16GB one.

Im currently having a problem when trying to setup an unattended install of windows 7. When the hard drive has no partitions the install goes fine. However if the hard drive has any existing partitions, it throws up an error message saying it can't create new partitions. So I end up having to launch a live CD and delete the partitions before doing the unattended install.

So recently, my windows installation on my computer got corrupted somehow so I decided to do a full wipe and install Ubuntu. After having problems and errors appear with using the installer on a dvd a burned while attempting to create partitions, I went ahead and used parted magic also burned onto a dvd to completely fill the drive with zeros.

I tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my new ASUS k55a laptop today, and somehow managed to lose access to all partitions on my computer. I tried boot-repair and reinstalling ubuntu but it's not helping. When I try to turn on my computer after the installation, it says to "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device" on a black screen.

My laptop is Dell Inspiron N4030. I used to use Ubuntu 12.04 and it was on the entire hard drive. I tried to install windows 7 but my laptop couldn't install it. So, I decided to delete the entire hard drive and do a fresh install of Windows 7. But after deletion I immediately removed the gparted live usb which I was using to delete the partitions of my hard drive.
