[ubuntu] 10.4 lts win bind does not like open likewise

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello all, I'm having a problem with winbind not able to start. I've joined an active directory domain successfully using likewise and for brief time this was working, people were able to mount drives by their active directory account. I know that likewise is working because I'm successfully able to ssh into the box using these accounts. But now windbind has stubbornly refused to start. Yet strangely when I run net ads info I get good information back but winbind claims this " Could not fetch our SID - did we join?" Any thoughts? Thanks ubuntu 10.4 LTS likewise-o (Hardware)

I currently use likewise to use my active directory credentials to login to ubutu (12.04). When I want to mount one of our windows shares, I am prompted for a password again. Is there a way to reuse my current credentials (I've seen some posts on this site regarding single sign on, but I'm not sure if/how likewise can play into this).

[ubuntu] Active Directory 34 weeks 5 days ago

I'm trying to use Likewise to add my machine to an Active Directory. I don't have an administrator account that will allow me to join the AD. I'm wondering if there is a workaround in my case because I have been informed that the PC has been 'manually' added to the domain already. I was given a host name to use at installation time.

Apologies if my understanding of how this works is wrong.
