Two Video Cards in Console?

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Hi,  I apologize if this may be kind of a dumb question;  I have two video cards; an ATI and an NVIDIA card;  My question is fairly basic; X11 aside, should I be able to plug both video cards in and get the 'console' to display by default out of both cards?  Do I have to do anything special to setup the second card for console (i.e non-X)?  I know the OS is detecting both cards because they show up in lspci.  The second card (the card in question), also shows up in dmesg.  I dont' care if the same video signal is displayed on the second monitor (HowTos)

I want to install a video card into a server. When it is inserted, server does not boot up and there is no video signal coming from video card. 4 LEDs at the back of the motherboard show pattern G-R-R-A which means "Disabling the console controller" (see Appendix C in manual). There was another (older) video card in that PCI slot and it worked fine.

So I have 3 old video capture cards which I would like to use for CCTV. Each card supports 1 camera. So I would like to have 3 cameras setup in the end and monitor them with zoneminder.

When each card is plugged in on it's own, it works fine. Video comes through clearly with xawtv and zoneminder.

I have been trying this to no avail. I am a linux newb, so a step by step explanation would be greatly appreciated. I have two video cards, nvidia geforce 8600 gt . I want a monitor to run on each card, so twinview cannot be used because my understanding that is only for single video cards.

I went to the system monitors tab and my second display is detected but disabled.

I'm about to configure some new GPU capable nodes for our needs and I was wondering if someone has any experience with using simple video cards like Nvidia GTX 680 (actively cooled with a fan) in a 1U server? The fan would be pretty close to the chassis (e.g. SuperMicro SC818G-1400B) and I'm not sure it will get enough cool air.

I am looking into a Windows Server 2008 SP1 with RemoteFX enabled, however I do not want to buy one of the NVIDIA Quadro $1000+ video cards to do it (as only a small number of users will be using virtual machines).

Hello, I have 2 video cards (onboard and an internal one). After installing the latest Kubuntu last week the second monitor is not working at all. I have tried following the steps in this article to no avail (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI)

I've heard Nvidia cards usually have better support than ATI, but even within brands, is the support pretty even across different cards or how would I find which video cards are best supported?

I'm buying a computer off of my brother, and I was just wondering which video card is better in terms of performance. His computer has a nVidia GeForce 7900GS, whereas mine has a nVidia GeForce 8600GT. I looked at a site which compared video cards and they seemed very similar, and I was wondering which would be a better choice.
