According to this guide I setup two servers.
Now these two servers can't ping each other, this is arp -n result:
# arp -n

I am setting up a few servers for a conference at a hotel.
They have setup a separate VLAN for me and gave me 3 static IP's and a DHCP pool of 500.
The issue I have is that the two servers can not ping each other.
We got 2 CentOS servers on same datacenter. they both have websites using same mysql server.
Most of the websites uses same source codes located on a.b.c.162. There is a shortcut to a.b.c.162 on a.b.c.164 placed on same location as a.b.c.162. So websites are reaching source codes through shoutcut between servers if website is located on a.b.c.164.
System was working perfectly until this morning.
If got 4 servers. 2 servers on location BOZ en 2 servers on location RSD. These locations both have connection to another network.
Each location has 1 server called VPN-"location" and 1 server DC-"location".
When there is no VPN established between VPN-RSD and VPN-BOZ, VPN-BOZ and DC-BOZ can ping each other on hostname and IP-adres.
I have 4 servers running windows server 2012.
I have one of the setup as my domain controller, for let's say domain.local
Obviously when I installed this it added the DNS server and this was as expected. I then proceeded in joining my other servers to the domain and all went well, I also set the DNS to only respond to requests coming in on the internal network's NIC.
Hi,
We are having two DNS servers working as master and slave in our DMZ network subnet.DMZ network consist other servers also, but only the DNS servers intermittently becomes unreachable (no ping response) from different subnets whereas the internal communication (within subnet) happens at that time.
From the DNS server we are unable to ping gateway ip also when the issue arises. We tried changi
I can lookup DNS hostnames with dig and nslookup, but nothing else seems to be able to resolve anything. ping, telnet, Firefox, everything gets "unknown host". For example:
> dig yahoo.com
; <<>> DiG 9.6.1-P2 <<>> yahoo.com
;; global options: +cmd

I took my EeePC running 12.04 to a friend's workplace in order to demonstrate something online (a Toastmasters website, in case that's relevant).
On booting up, I got an IP address and was assigned DNS servers. I recognised these as belonging to a local ISP.
But I couldn't connect to anything.
I have an extensive network of servers all currently hosted on AWS EC2.
For reasons of cost I plan to gradually migrate to dedicated servers where possible.
So: How can I best combine AWS and non-AWS servers in my network?
