http://forum.xda-developers.com – I was looking for a portable power source for my tablet. Most of the reviews for these devices are not too good and I believe the batteries used are mostly the reason they are not reliable. I bought two Chinese units called Power Bank with a capacity of 13800mah. I charged them to capacity and after charging the tab from 30% back to 100% they were nearly empty. Since the Tab has a battery rated at 4000mah this does not seem correct. One unit had five 18650 cells in parallel and the other unit had two square cells tied together. I tested both battery packs and they were not near the rat (HowTos)

I've just installed a big fat battery on my Asus Eeepc 8G; it has a capacity of 10,400mAh. XFCE4 Power Manager Information reports that the battery capacity is 5,200mAh.I tried looking at the preferences and the BIOS settings, yet I can't find out how to get Power Manager to recognize the larger battery.

I've got this little issue with my GNOME-power-manager. I use Ubuntu 9.10 on my Acer TravelMate 8471. GPM does not detect the battery. It thinks the laptop runs on cable.

devkit-power -d says: Device: /org/freedesktop/DeviceKit/Power/devices/battery_BAT0 native-path: (null) power supply: no [...]

Right now the power statistics show that:

Energy when full: 25.5 Wh Energy (design): 93.2 Wh

And indeed the battery doesn't seem to be lasting as long as it used too.

My question: Is this data reliable?

These days most of our portable devices can be charged by either plugging into the wall or plugging into your computer via a USB cable. Sure we can buy a separate charger to power each device, but they're not cheap and you need a different one for each device.

I purchased an extended battery, a Motorola branded BP7X for a Droid 2 phone. It's rated at 3.7 volts/1820 mAh. I tested it with a volt-ohm meter and got a reading of 4.2 volts.

When I install the battery in the phone and connect the charger (phone is off), the charging graphic shows the battery is fully charged.

Yesterday, I received the power bank 10000 which I bought on Amazon. It is an universal battery charger with 2 USB for Galaxt Tab, iPad, smartphone, most popular phone and digital devices.

The first thing when I got this item is to test it. After fully charged it, I used it to charge my Galaxy Tab P1000 and one power bank 5200mAh simultaneously.

A Singapore clean-tech company called Gcorelab has just received $482,000 (S$589,000) in funding for a new technology that promises to control the thermal issues that have plagued lithium-ion batteries. Battery packs that use lithium-ion cells such as those found in laptops and, in larger deployments like electric cars, can suffer from cells failing.

The battery on the indicator-power only displays two status icons when is charging: empty (regardless of the power level that it still maintains) and full (just when it is finally loaded). However, It is funny that this one does not come about when the battery is discharging (according to how much power left, the status icon is different for 100% - 80% - 60% - 40% - 20% -0% power levels).
