trying to get wireless on 11.2 to connect

http://forums.opensuse.org – I just installed 11.2 on a Compaq Evo N1000v. This particular machine was used and had no wireless card in it. I bought a Linksys usb connector. Opensuse shows it in the network app but it shows no activity at all and does not 'see' the wireless network in the location so, I have an old Avaya wireless card goes into the side slot of the laptop. opensuse identifies that card easily and shows it in the network list and it sees the local wlan. but...it will not allow me to 'select' it or connect. I am an old fashioned IT network admin and I never did catch up to the wireless world. could someone please point me in the right direction to get one of these devices working? Hello all, I've tried looking through some of the problems with wireless networking and I can't quite find one that resolves my issue. Here's the deal.

The install of Ubuntu 11.10 on this laptop is about a week old, and wireless was working with the proprietary Broadcom STA wireless drivers.

I've been struggling to connect to my home wireless network, but up until now my Broadcom card has been able to at least detect the network. I know this because in Network manager, in the Add Network Connection dialog box, if I tell it to scan for wireless networks then I see my home network along with all the other local wireless networks.

Hi I have an IBM R51 laptop which I would like to run on ubuntu (as I'm currently running Maverick on my Desktop and like it very much) I have run the liveCD and everything runs OK except for the wireless network, which although it detects my wireless network, will not let me connect.

I just upgraded from 11.04 to 11.1 and now I have no built-in wireless. It does seem to be receiving since I can see the various systems in my neighbourhood including my own, but I'm not able to connect. When I plug my USB (Belkin) in it works fine.

I have a Compaq pessario CQ60, a wireless network, and a Atheros AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter and I cant get the wireless internet to connect. the wireless works fine on vista, and I got the internet working via cable, but I need to get it working wirelessly. I am a beginner to linux, but know a little ( nothing in terminal though).

I'm unable to connect my office laptop to my home wireless network using KNetworkManager. When I click on the greyed-out world, the network manager cannot see the network at all (i.e. the signal strength is 0%). The laptop is in the same room as the router, and my other laptop (running openSUSE 11.2) works OK.

My wireless card in my Acer Aspire 7551G shows wireless networks in range but wont connect to any of them. I am running an Atheros AR928x Wireless network card (windows reports it as a AR5b93). Also as a side note, whenever i turn on my computer, my wireless is disabled.
