trouble installing nmap

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I'm trying to install nmap and I'm getting errors, I'm running FC12, I didn't have a compiler on here so I used yum to install the gcc, i downloaded the lastest of nmap from their site, i unzipped it. after running the configure file, the make command was giving me errors. I tried the gmake and that worked, but when I go to make the install I get these errors: g++ -c -Iliblua -Ilibdnet-stripped/include -Ilibpcre -Ilibpcap -Inbase -Insock/include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DNMAP_NAME=\"Nmap\" -DNMAP_URL=\"http://nmap.org\" -DNMAP_PLATFORM=\"i686-pc-linux-gnu\" -DNMAPDATADIR=\"/usr/local/share/nmap\" -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 main.cc -o main.o make: g++: Command not found make: *** [main.o] Error 127 I'm still searching to see if I can find any other information online, but wondering if any of you have gone through this already, thanks. I have install apt on my fedora 17 using "yum install apt" . Also. i added neccesary repo's to "/etc/apt/sources.list" file.

F16 Vino not starting 8 weeks 2 days ago

I wanted to use vino to share my desktop on a F16 installation. I followed the instruction #3 here.

The setting took, but the vncserver was not started.

nmap -p 5900 shows the port is still closed.

How can I update all the scripts on my R3? In the repository 427 scrips, in my Nmap 328 scripts. In normal copy, and further updating "--script-updatedb" an error. And also how to update the folder "nselib"?

After performing nmap sweep ping : nmap –sP –n 128.235.32,18.100

What would be the output message provided by nmap? How do I would know if the nmap find these host alive or not ?

I am doing my hw and I wrote a Wireshark filter to display packets , I have captured 8 packets and I do not know how to determine if the scanned host are alive or not.

I want to create a shortcut on my desktop for nmap. I wrote a bash script but the problem is that the terminal window just disappears after nmap command is executed.
