https://bbs.archlinux.org – After fixing a few (common) issues I had with a vala dependency, I now get an error message sayingzeitgeist is needed for Postler to show up in Synapse, the Unity dash or the Activity log. If you want to build without it, pass --disable-zeitgeist.whenever I attempt to install postler-git via yaourt.Yes, I have installed the zeitgeist package and still receive this message. I am unsure where to put "--disable-zeitgeist" in order to pass it, and I am unsure that I would want to, since being able to see things in the activity log seems like a good thing.I am still a bit new to the whole (HowTos)

So far I tried:

-rm -rf ~/.local/share/zeitgeist

-installing unity-place-applications, unity-place-files

-logout/login

There is no privacy setting blocking zeitgeist recording any file.

In .xsession-errors:

I want to be able to use the light softwares Postler (email) and Midori (browser) on my #! XFCE - but when I try to add the repository to synaptic: ppa:postler-dev/ppa The add source button isn't highlighted which won't let me install it -___-Tried this in terminal:sudo apt-add-ppa repository: postler-dev/ppaand still no luck.

I want to solve this problem and thought about trying activity-log-manager to edit Zeitgeist log (or something like that, if I use the right terms).

I have Zeitgeist 0.9.5 installed and Synaptic allows installing activity-log-manager v. 0.9.4. I have installed it. It is visible in main menu, in usr/bin/ as well as in /usr/share/applications/, also the Launcher Synapse sees it.

Zeitgeist is an event-logging framework for desktop and mobile devices. Applications can push events into the log, and anyone can query the log via the rich query API.

Gnome-activity-journal is the graphical user interface for Zeitgeist,a tool for easily browsing and finding files on your computer.

I am using gnome fallback desktop in my ubuntu 12.04.01 system.

Can I disable from starting at the beginning zeitgeist datahub (remark, I don't use unity) in order to get a quicker boot?, ¿can it result in some undesired side effect ?

The program called "zeitgeist" spies. How to disable it?

Zeitgeist is also available on Ubuntu 11.10. What type of data zeitgeist sends out?

Because zeitgeist continuously access the hard disk, I removed zeitgeist package completely. After that, when trying to log into Ubuntu, there is no more unity option, only Genome, Genome (no effects), etc. And even Genome doesn't work normal. Say pressing tab doesn't switch window, cannot open folder in the explorer.

I tried to reinstall zeitgeist. The problem remains.
