http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Hello , I' m having a problem with the settings in : preferences ---> trackers ---> tracker-proxy In proxy-server I've : //xxxxxxxx.com In proxy-port : 3128 ( I run squid on the same machine ) But ... as soon as I activate the "connect with tracker via proxy" button , the port (51413 default) closes ,and new seeds or downs appear in red with a remark unknown . With squid (stable 3.18) came also an ad on for the system-config-services ,named transparent-proxying ,so I have this activated (all web traffic through proxy). Is this "double" pointing to the proxy the cause of this ? Also ,what is the benefit of proxying connections to the tracker ? Thanks in advance :) martin (HowTos)

Hello everyone, I first want to thank you all that reply to my post in advance.

I have a squid proxy installed with an isc-dhcp-server as well and it is working awesome. I have put a whitelist to work with the proxy and it is doing its job but I am having an issue with connecting the proxy to email clients.

i would like to setup two transparent proxy server that use Ubuntu Server and Squid as transparent proxy. My idea is to synchronize the cache between Proxy 1 and proxy 2. so both Proxy server will have same cache inside them. I wish to use Rsync that is an open source utility that provides fast incremental file transfer.

Hi all,I'm trying to channel all my traffic through tor but KDE doesn't seem to recognize my proxy settings. To set up the proxy, I went to System Settings -> Network Settings -> Proxy -> Use manually specified proxy configuration and set the value of SOCKS proxy to socks://localhost, PORT to 9050.

I've configured squid with squid with squidguard and when using proxy in browser it works fine. But I want to enforce using proxy (probably in iptables) in all browsers. Now it can be disabled in the browser settings by user.

My setup is: one standalone pc with ubuntu running the squid and squidguard and on this very same device I want to somehow enforce using the proxy.

I'm mon webmaster/developer and I'm new in Linux. Our office suddenly needs to setup a proxy server. Ubuntu Squid proxy server immediately came as an option for us. The question is: does transparent squid proxy configuration using Ubuntu will have no problem with computers running on Windows OS?

I am trying to get wget running behind a proxy. Since Ubuntu didn't support providing authentication information for the proxy (the one in the system settings), I had to use a ntlm proxy (in my case, I use cntlm). In the network settings I have set the proxy to 127.0.0.1:3128, which works fine for Chrome. APT has its own configuration file, where I've also set the proxy to 127.0.0.1:3128.

I know how to have squid work as a transparent proxy. You put it into transparent mode then use your router or IPTABLES to forward port 80 to the squid port. I would like to do the same for SSL. Every guide I see mentions setting up keys on the squid server.
