I installed a Gnome extension to indicate touchpad on or off.
I then set in control panel, when mouse is plugged in, disable touchpad.
Since then, the touchpad has remained disabled.
I have removed the extension, and enabled touchpad always.
I have also used the synaptics hot keys (function keys) on the Acer Laptop, to manually enable (toggle) the touchpad,
but without any results.

I use Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64 bit on my lenovo laptop. And scroll is not working on touchpad.
When I try to look at it on settings, There is no touchpad panel at all.
I guess it recognize my touchpad as a mouse.
I tried to follow the following solution but it says that there is no dkms command. So I am kind of desperate, can you please help?
