Touchpad and Keyboard both stop working after long uptime

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I have an Asus laptop running Linux that I leave running for several weeks at a time. I never put it in hibernate or suspend, I only close the lid when I'm not using it. After a few days or weeks of running, the touchpad and keyboard will Both lock up (at the same time) for no apparent reason. I could be just surfing the internet when it happens. The touchpad and keyboard seem to only lock up when I'm actively using the laptop (not when idle), which may mean it's related to something I press, but I'm not sure? The touchpad never locks or unlocks when Pressing FN and the designated touchpad lo (HowTos)

I have a keyboard with a built-in touchpad that I often use with my laptop, but while the laptop's built-in touchpad does support scrolling by stroking the right-hand edge of the touchpad, the touchpad on the external keyboard does not. Is there any way to add this functionality? Or better yet, is there any way to emulate the two-finger scrolling (vertical and horizontal) as on the Mac?

I have a new (last Friday) install of Fedora 17 on a Samsung R60plus laptop. I'm using the KDE spin.

Initially, the keyboard works fine (not sure about the function keys as I haven't checked all of them but mostly works, at least). The touchpad mostly works. I can't get it configured as I wish but it is possible that this is a hardware limitation.

My girlfriend has a Samsung NC20 laptop/netbook(/whatever), running Ubuntu 10.10. When she attached a Dell monitor her laptop touchpad stopped working.

I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit on a Dell M1330. I've been having issues with the keyboard, touchpad and media buttons. Between 1 and 10 seconds after I start typing something, the webcam light will blink and the touchpad stops working. From then on, the media buttons won't work at all.

I have one Kubuntu computer running 11.10, after the updates a few days ago my synaptics touchpad died, it simply refuses to run, I am sure its a software thing because it works if I use a LiveCD.

Keyboard is working perfect, I can login, open a terminal and use my computer but would be nice to make the touchpad run again.

Anyone can guide me on where to find information and how to enable my tou

Hi all, I have a new System76 Gazelle running Ubuntu 12.10. Accidental input on the touchpad is out of control and has become a serious issue. The usual clicking in a different spot while typing problem occurs.

After some googling, and finding very old bugs (7.04 ubuntu, and without fixes).

Issue : 1) Let laptop sit for a while 2) Screen first goes black (backlight works) 3) Screen goes fully dark (laptop is still on) 4) attempting to "wake" the laptop by moving touchpad, or keyboard fails to work.
