I have an Asus laptop running Linux that I leave running for several weeks at a time. I never put it in hibernate or suspend, I only close the lid when I'm not using it. After a few days or weeks of running, the touchpad and keyboard will Both lock up (at the same time) for no apparent reason.
I have a new (last Friday) install of Fedora 17 on a Samsung R60plus laptop. I'm using the KDE spin.
Initially, the keyboard works fine (not sure about the function keys as I haven't checked all of them but mostly works, at least). The touchpad mostly works. I can't get it configured as I wish but it is possible that this is a hardware limitation.
I had the laptop working fine and now I have lost the touchpad on the laptop, no clicking or anything, I had to plug a USB mouse to keep it working and enter this question. This has happened occasionally before and it works fine after reboot but would like to investigate why it's happening. What kind of log information can I provide to see what's going on?
I recently bought an HP Pavillion dm1 laptop for everyday use. To get the wireless card working, I had to install the proprietary Broadcom drivers. However this has created a problem: from time to time, the keyboard and touchpad freeze. The system is not frozen, and whatever was running keeps on running.
Hi,
After some googling, and finding very old bugs (7.04 ubuntu, and without fixes).
Issue :
1) Let laptop sit for a while
2) Screen first goes black (backlight works)
3) Screen goes fully dark (laptop is still on)
4) attempting to "wake" the laptop by moving touchpad, or keyboard fails to work.
My girlfriend has a Samsung NC20 laptop/netbook(/whatever), running Ubuntu 10.10. When she attached a Dell monitor her laptop touchpad stopped working.
I installed ubuntu on my T500 laptop a couple of days ago and everything was working fine. Today I plugged a usb keyboard and mouse directly into 2 of the usb ports. I then powered up. Everything was fine during the boot process I used the usb keyboard to select the boot option first in the windows - ubuntu choice and then in grub to move between the options and select one.
Hello,I don't have a physical mouse on my dell m4600 laptop, just using the touchpad. It works, but works as a mouse. So i can't do any two finger scrolling etc, and in Mouse & Touchpad system settings there's only a mouse tab.
Hello,
I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 (Gateway NV53u Laptop), with no problems except that I have lost the ability to scroll with my touchpad on my laptop.
Running xinput list shows that there is a PS/2 Mouse and AlpsPS/2 ALPS Glidepoint. Also, going through the Mouse and Pointer Device options, I see touchpad options, which I can fiddle with, but have no visible change.
