I have used Ubuntu Tweak to set a custom login screen background, which works well.
I would now like to instead set a very wide image as the desktop background, with the following layout properties:
adjust the size of the image to fill the height of the screen
adjust the width of the image proportionally
fix the right edge of the image to the right edge of the screen
Thus, the image would rem
I just restarted my notebook (after ~10 days uptime) and now everytime I try to maximize windows, they are moved to the bottom of the screen and they get cut off.Somehow it seems like my X,Y coordinates start at 800,0 (my resolution: 1920x1080).I checked already my screen-settings and tried to reset them, but it didn't work.Another thing: I usually use tilda as my on-screen terminal, which is

Hi everyone,
We bought a workstation for our lab - the T1650 workstation from Dell that comes with an Intel Xeon processor and a ATI Firepro V4900 graphics card.
Running 12.04 LTS. This is extremely annoying and makes me want to try another flavor of linux. Yes, this little inconvenience is THAT annoying to me. Most of the time the launcher will appear nice and easy as soon as I mouse over the upper left corner, but many times, the left edge of the screen will get a little darker, but the launcher will not appear.
I have been trying to dual boot ubuntu with windows 7 via WUBI on my custom built pc
but without success. When i start the computer i can choose windows or ubuntu i choose ubuntu and when i should get to the login screen the screen just stays purple/pink. Tried safe mode but cant get in there either. I have tried reinstall but did not work either.
I just transferred a HP pavilion dv2000 from windows to Ubuntu 12.04.
When it starts up there there are lines across the screen and after I log in, The mouse can't reach the edge of the screen on the left and if you touch the top of the screen with the cursors, a bar runs top to bottom and stays there as long as it touches the top.
Hey folks,
I have a system with three screens running Ubuntu 11.10 86_64. Those screens are located next to each other and the X-Server is configured with Xinerama.
The screen in the middle is the main screen and all desktop-icons are located on the left one by default (files, links, ...). If I want to move one of these icons to another screen, I try to drag and drop those.
Dear all,
Thanks for reading my woes.
I put fedora 15 on my tower about 18 - 24 months ago. About 7-8 months ago I had to move to London for 6 months so I left my tower in storage rather than lug it all the way down and the lug it all the way back up again.
Today I tried to reconnect it and get it going.
After I left it plugged in for a while I attempted to boot up.
