Believe it or not, Android smartphones are still continuing to gobble up more market share. According to IDC, Android smartphones accounted for a ridiculous 81% of all phones shipped in Q3 (a good chunk of that was likely Samsung, too). All in all, Android shipments grew 51.3% year-over-year, and the smartphone market overall grew about 40% year-over-year.
Is there some way to find the VM budget for bitmaps?
My app displays two photographs at once and this is possible given appropriate scaling and colour depth, but, if the device has a bigger VM budget (as some do), I would like the app to use it for better image quality.
Well folks, this probably won’t come as much of a shock, but those persistent rumors of a pair of Nokia Lumia phablets were true after all. Nokia officially pulled back the curtains on the Lumia 1520 and 1320 at its big Nokia World show in Abu Dhabi today, and it’s clear that the company isn’t backing down the from challenge laid down by its mobile rivals.
We have slightly bizarre news for this Sunday night. @evleaks is reporting that the HTC One Max phablet will not have the Snapdragon 800, and will have the Snapdragon S4 Pro instead. This would be a real Debbie Downer, and if true, one has to wonder why HTC would do this?
My nephew (7 years old) is keen on getting a mobile gaming platform. Rather than buying a dedicated device like a Nintendo DS (or whatever the latest is called) I was thinking a budget Android mobile with big screen would probably work better. The phone wouldn't be used with a SIM card and thus has the benefits of being cheaper (initial outlay) and access to tons of free games.
Today Sony announced the Xperia E, a budget device that’ll sport a 3.5-inch HVGA 320 x 480 display and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device will be available with either a single or dual (Xperia E dual) SIMs.
