I have a Centos5 box running tomcat5 (a version before 5.5, there's no bin/version.sh script).
When attempting to start tomcat, whether through init.d or service, I get the FAILED message with no other information provided. The date on catalina.out changes but it has no contents and is 0 bytes. logging.conf has not been edited and everything is marked as FINE detail.
We have a number of Tomcat applications running on a Cpanel server. Recently, we hosted a new website on the server which is using Tomcat. The issue is that whenever the customer uploads any new file, we have to restart Tomcat service for changes to reflect. We have never restarted the Tomcat service for any other websites hosted on any server after every new upload.
