tmp files automatically saved

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I have Fedora 17 GNOME installed on my Asus 1015PX. I have my personal files on a flashdrive. After closing a new or edited text files, tmp files are permanently saved on my flashdrive. I am manually opening up my folders to search for the tmp files and manually deleting the tmp files. I have tried to click on search and type ".tmp" to quickly find all of the tmp files but search does not find them. Am I using the wrong file extension? The tmp files are created regardless of what text editor I use, be it LibreWritter, Gedit or Leafpad. Is a rootkit creating the tmp files? (HowTos)
