I connect to one of my work computers by VNC using the following
Code:
vncviewer -via username@server_ip 127.0.0.1:xx -geometry 1300x800
I use this practically everyday to connect to our server and it ALWAYS worked fine with my F17 installation which has tigervnc 1.1
Now, I tried the same thing in my F18 installation and all I get is
Code:
$ vncviewer -via username@server_ip 12
I would like to open a Nautilus window at a certain position on my screen/desktop while in Gnome-3. I could do this before in Ubuntu 11.10 by specifying the geometry, for example, open the window at the bottom right corner from the command line like this:
nautilus --geometry 600x475-0-0 ~/mystuff
But using Gnome3 the geometry - position is ignored. Is there a way to make this work?
I'm trying to check FAT16 file system with GParted and the check fails with the following message:
The file system's CHS geometry is (484, 16383, 63) is invalid. The partition table's CHS geometry is (31130, 255, 63). If you select Ignore, the file system's CHS geometry will be left unchanged.
I have a script that runs a calculation and then plots the result using gnuplot script file. The problem is that I need to make more than one plot and I don't want windows to cover each other.
Awesome. One thing that would make it perfect is a real -geometry argument so one could specify some distance to the border (e.g. -geometry -5+5)... and perhaps multiline message support?

Hello group, Here is my situation. I have tried installing Ubuntu Desktop 12.10 and 12.04.2 with DRBL. I go through all the configs and DRBL/Clonezilla works great. Now rather than having to be on the console to update/install software etc I would like to just use a vnc like tightvncserver so that I can vnc in from whatever client or other computer.
I use debian (wheezy) with xfce 4.8.
I am using TigerVNC to connect to my development server. I create a view by typing
vncserver
in a putty shell.
My monitor is a widescreen monitor and the vncviewer in fullscreen mode does not cover the entire resolution and it is just a centered square in the entire area of my screen.
I am using "emacs -geometry 178x38+0+376" to start emacs. No matter what the Y is, DWM always moves emacs up leaving space between emacs and sreen bottom. However, "xterm -geometry 159x25+0+438" works great.Sincerely!
