If thunderbird won't open a link, either by clicking on the link or right click > open link in browser, these posts might help:http://chakra-project.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=4724I didn't create that topic, so I couldn't edit the topic subject to reflect the solution.
Some webpages contain email links. If you right-click on the link in most Web browsers, a menu appears that lets you copy the email address to the clipboard (first screenshot). You can then paste the address into the To field of a new email message.
In recent versions of Mozilla's Firefox browser, you can also left-click on the link and get some action.
I have download and installed thunderbird 3RC2 and it works great
except for one small problem. When you click on link in an email nothing
happens, if you right click and select open in browser nothing happens.
I would like to find a fix for this issue, it seems small but it gets under ones
skin after a few attempts at opening a link.
I would take this question over to Mozilla.org and not here at askubuntu.com except for the following:
This is a brand new install of Ubuntu, Firefox and Thunderbird.
On the same computer I also have band new installs of Firefox and Thunderbird for the Wondows7 partition. And they are running perfectly.
One of the Firefox lockups is totally reproducible.
I'm having the same problem as OP. The problem isn't about applications associated with the file type of attachments. The problem is, clicking on a link in an HTML email message (or right click -> Open link in browser) doesn't work. Both Firefox and Thunderbird are set as the system defaults.
