I have already used recordmydesktop, xvidcap and kazam. My sound working fine with other audio or videos.
xvidcap doesn't record sound at all. I have tried many ways. If I try as: 'padsp xvidcap', it also gives error, like: /dev/dsp cannot found or missing. I have changed it to /dev/snd.
I just did a clean install of opensuse 11.3. Pretty much everything is working great. However, I tried to record a video of a youtube stream and the sound didn't record while using xvidcap. I'm using all default settings. Anyone know a fix for this? I'm a newbie when it comes to linux audio.
Ok so I did sudo apt-get update. Let it do it's thing. Before and after I still have this problem with xvidcap package installerHelp me out?
I am compiling xvidcap, I used "./configure;make;make install". install fails
Code:

Hey, as always I would like to record screencasts of my leaning progress for other non-techs to see, however, I haven't been able to get any of the screen-casting kit to work. Istabull isn't really up for purpose as there is no advanced menu (GUI) - and i need that.
Thanks very much alanrochester for your help, I now have a better understanding of the ways SW are installed in Linux environment.
For Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) or 12.04 (Precise Pangolin, right now, only alpha version is available) LTS there are lot of ways to record desktop – to create screencast. Some of the most popular applications include – xvidcap, Tibesti, RecordMyDesktop, Kazam etc.
