I keep getting the following message from time to time:

Code: Failed to initialize

Failed to initialize packaging backend. This may occur if other packaging tools are being used simultaneously. More defails:

I tried a yum clean all but this still comes up when installing: There are unfinished transactions remaining. You might consider running yum-complete-transaction first to finish them. The program yum-complete-transaction is found in the yum-utils package.

Any ideas how to clean the cache? I don;t want to run any of the transactions

After yum update i get 70 mb of updates, but it seems yum doesn't check all done, next time says update available the same 70 mb. If i do other yum task yum install something i always get

Have been trying to update but first message is you have unfinished transactions suggest yum-coplete-transactions which after doing I get the following message; Error: Trying to remove "yum", which is protected You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

Whenever I try to install something via YUM I get

I keep receiving this error when trying to install software or updates. For reference, Fedora randomly rebooted on me during update and I don't believe it finished updating either.

I am running Fedora 8. Each time I run a YUM command, I get the message that there are unfinished transactions, and to run yum-complete-transaction. Upon running yum-complete-transaction, it fails with this error. How can I remove this uncompleted transaction so I can finish the last one?
