http://askubuntu.com – I've noticed that beyond let's say..a 20 MB/s bitrate, a movie would lag, played on my laptop.. It results in me missing the highest bitrated scenes of a movie.. And sometimes having to compromise for watching the movie at a lesser quality.. I was wondering if there's anything I can do software-wise to play movies smoothley..? At the moment Ubuntu is installed with all the default settings on an 60GB SSD I use VLC ofcourse.. I also have 2 1TB HDD - maybe I can use them as pagefiles? I don't really know alot about this so maybe this is irrelevant.. I took the laptop battery out since it w (HowTos)

Hello everybody,

ICS on P7510 amazes me again, this time with Google Play Movies. It came with ICS (UK update), my son made a short movie, which showed in the filelist in Play Movies. Suddenly, the Google Play Movies shortcut disappeared from my Tab, although in my app list in Google Play, it appeared as installed.

i`m using ubuntu 11.10, i have the restricted extras installed, but i can`t play mpeg2 .ts hd movie formats with vlc 1.1.12, when i hit play it remains black screen..no play, on the other hand in movie player default in ubuntu it runs the movie, play great no lag nothing,BUT I CAN`T FAST FORWARD :(...please help.

im having trouble with DeVeDe.

its only creating and converting one movie to an iso image ready to be burned. when i want to create multiple movies to one dvd disk.

im trying to create a DVD with four different movie titles. i also make sure i click the button to make sure it all fits to a 4.7GB DVD disk. ive used devede many times before, on my old laptop.

I have installed Fedora 17 DVD. Any movie I play in any movie player I try is a little bit laggy.

im trying to play a movie on my ubuntu machine using VLC or Movie Player. the source of the movie is a dvd. both players say the same thing. they say the dvd cant be opened because the dvd is encrypted...

i checked for updates but there wasnt any soooo.

Any ideas?

I'm looking for a movie player or file manager for my kids, so they can easily find movies just by looking at thumbnails. Movies are placed in separate folders with a folder.jpg for each movie on my NAS.
