Hi,
just upgraded fron 10.04 LTS to 12.04.1 LTS and I have a problem with the (minimalistic) approach for setting the system wide proxy settings.
I travel a lot and work in different environments each requiring different proxy settings with and without authenticitation as well as at home where I have no proxy.
In 10.04 LTS, I used to be able to save the configurations in the proxy-setting
I'm looking to duplicate a testing setup for an application. We can't make a change to the application itself, but would like to route all of the application's data through a SOCKS proxy (likely Charles).
I'm envisioning a setup like:
I have separate machine "laptop" (with two interfaces) that I'd like to configure to act as a gateway, and route all traffic through the SOCKS proxy.
Here's what I've got setup:
Windows Service Account with internet access
A .NET application which allows setting the proxy settings
Host
Port
Username
Password
When running this application the proxy server logs are showing that the credentials are being passed to the proxy server and the proxy server is allowing the traffic.
Recently I've switched from Fedora 17 to OpenSUSE 12.2. I used to add my proxy from Network Settings>Network Proxy>Manual Method>Socks Hosts.
i work on ubuntu 12.04 with a internet connection using proxy. Lately the proxy address changed, and now suddenly I cannot connect to internet whatsoever. Strangely, the same proxy adress does work on a windows machine. I know there is a bug concerning the system wide application of proxy settings, but that is not my problem. If i set the new proxy address in firefox it just does not connect.
Since new version of U1 (4.0), it's been claimed that it can read OS proxy settings. But in my case it didn't.
I have my network settings set to "Auto Proxy Discovery". And browsers, mail and other apps are working fine.
I had to configure proxy settings for Dropbox manually (it has such configuration). But how can I configure U1 proxy manually? If it for some reason ignores Auto Proxy Settings.
Alright, so basically what I need is for the terminal to use a SOCKS (version 4) proxy.
My nexus was working fine for a week; I installed adblock plus which forced me to change the proxy settings - kept getting ads anyway, so I uninstalled the app. But now I can't connect to the internet at all - it keeps telling me that there is a proxy issue. I tried setting it back to the original setting (no proxy) but now the nexus won't let me have no proxy. So frustrating. Help?
