So I went back to Stock OS on the Esteem. Love the power of stock but hate all the icons and theme. So I took a basic GingerBread Rom and ripped out all the icons and files and inserted them into the Esteem. Looks like the Nexus S before ICS lol. It even has a Gingerbread style 4G icons! I love it!
So I started creating a theme last night, upon testing I noticed I wasn't receiving popups on the screen from texts. They show up on the status bar, but they don't popup on the screen. The settings in messaging app has a check in the box for notification popup but it's not working. Does theming systemui or framework break this?
Is it possible to take the picture files from the framework's drawable hdpi from another rom or theme and "inject" them into my framework and push it to my phone basically theming it? I'm not planning on making a theme or ROM to release if you guys are wondering "This guy's gonna take a bunch of stuff from everyone's work and release it as his own" haha

The systemUI has been redone along with the status bar notification icons the home screen has

As an UN-experienced dev, I am attempting to theme a stock rom that has already been rooted, de-odexed and zipaligned.
other that theming non-stock launchers, is there a way to install a theme chooser compatible with cm10 and aosp themes?
