Ive searched for days on this particular issue and its driving me insane.
I am working on android app and I am making use of the TTS engine. The app should output a message with continuous repetition for the duration of a certain event.
Text to Speech crashes every time I try to use it (Even in the settings dialog, it will give the "Unfortunately, Google Text to Speech has stopped" message.)
I thought it might be GOogle Now (which is largely useless, so I uninstalled it), but even with it uninstalled I still get the same message.
Anyone else have this problem, or have any tips?
I'm running CleanROM 5.0, BeastK
google has done a great job. I test japanese, chinese and english speech-to-text, and they all work really well.if you are smart, you can create a notebook program with my "speech-to-text". At least I got it to work with vim and secretly took notes in class.

I have a custom rom Stryke from Civato, it is excellent and fast. The only problem is that it only provides google voice Text to speech engine and when I use Mantano Reader that it comes up with a text aloud reader does not work. When I use another Rom that comes with PICO TTS by defect works like a charm but I want this app works with my TEXT TO SPEECH as well as Stryke Rom.
Whenever I type something in my address bar (other than a url), firefox automatically uses google search to give me results for it.
Google has recently made great progress with their speech recognition software, which is used in several open source products, e.g. Chromium Web Speech and Android Handsfree texting. I would like to use their speech recognition as part of my server stack, however I can't find much about it.
Is the text recognition software available as a library or package?

Apple’s looking into some very intriguing things in a couple of new patent applications spotted by AppleInsider today, including sonar-style echolocation for passive proximity detection, and a text-to-speech engine that takes contextual cues about what it’s reading and adds personality to the computer-generated voices it employs.
