Hello to all..
I am very new to Linux so please pardon some of the questions that I may pose.
I am running openSUSU 11.1, I have installed the BOINC application from the DVD. Here is my problem:
boinc is a really nice application to use on background of a computer that can help science projects and humanity as a all.
i would like somehow to encourage people use boinc with their preferences on boinc like projects choice, cpu from 10 to 100 ,..
OK, here's a quick and dirty writeup on running BOINC in CentOS 6. As the man says, your results may vary, but I'm running BOINC with BOINC GUI as I write this. [I did it this way becau... [by mistergoodbytes]
when i startup computer from power of and automatically open in kde boinc sometimes does not work and when i close and open again say that is already open and ask me for a password .. so i have to log out and log in with kde so boinc can start.and it start.
this does not happens with unity..
so why boinc at least sometimes does not open when the computer is power on and log in with kde ?
Hi all,
I just upgraded from fedora 16 to 17, quite painfully I must admit. One of the more minor problems I am having right now is related to the boinc package (installed ones are boinc-client-6.12.43-1.r25218svn.fc17.x86_64
boinc-manager-6.12.43-1.r25218svn.fc17.x86_64). Boinc client runs fine in the background but manager cannot connect to the localhost.
I have installed Boinc and subscribed to the projects I used to have on my old Windows machine. Everything works fine with one exception. I did not see any option in Boinc Manager to specify if I want my job to start on system boot or not.
After a reboot I can clearly see in the processes that boinc is doing it's calculations even though the manager is not running.
I have a file /etc/init/boinc-client.override with the single line "manual" that I use to prevent the BOINC client from starting up. (I don't want it hogging CPU time away from Folding@Home, for now anyway.)
But, after restarting, I noticed that BOINC had started itself up again.
I am certain I have upstart.
What should I do?
So I searched the forums and didn't find anything recent, and after seeing BOINC in synaptic, I was just wondering if anybody is currently using BOINC on Statler? Also, as the other posts seemed problematic (perhaps it just wasn't in repos yet?), is it as easy to setup as just hitting install in synaptic or is more needed?Any help or feedback is appreciated
